Mexico ramps up preparations for the Concacaf Gold Cup by announcing International friendly games

Prior to participating in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, Mexico will be paying in two International soccer friendlies to get ready for the tournament. Their first game will be against Costa Rica at the Orlando Citrus Bowl on June 27th, while the second will be against Honduras on July 1st at the NRG Stadium in Houston.

The games will be crucial for all the teams involved as they prepare for the bi annual CONCACAF Gold Cup, the premier international tournament in North America. Winning the Gold Cup will give the champions a chance to face the US in a one off game to qualify for the 2017 edition of the Confederations Cup.

Mexico are six-time Gold Cup champions and will be looking to add to their tally this year when the tournament kicks off on July 7th.

 

Mexico vs. Costa Rica

Mexico and Costa Rica, two major CONCACAF rivals, last played in October 2013 for a World Cup qualifier in San Jose, Costa Rica. The home team defeated the Mexicans 2-1 that day. Both teams progressed to the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, where Mexico bowed out after reaching the Round of 16, while Costa Rica reached the Quarter Finals for the first time in history.

The upcoming game between the two is highly anticipated and thousands are expected to turn up to support their teams. As can be expected, the secondary ticket market has reacted accordingly and tickets for the game have started selling out quickly. The average ticket price for the game is $94.88, with the minimum get in price set at $43. The most expensive tickets for the game are selling at $808.

 

Mexico vs. Honduras

Honduras and Mexico last squared off in October 2014 in Mexico, with the Tricolor emerging victorious 2-0. Los Catrachos will be looking to avenge that loss as they also step up preparations for the Gold Cup.
Honduras was also part of the FIFA World Cup in 2014, but bowed out of the group stage after being placed in a tough group featuring France, Switzerland and Ecuador. The team will look to give a better account of themselves when they participate in their second international tournament in two years.
