Matilda The Musical Dazzles on its US Tour – Tickets in Demand for the Bewitching Children’s Musical

A British import, Matilda the Musical is the production of Royal Shakespeare Company and premiered in 2010. After taking London’s West End by storm in 2011, the acclaimed musical headed to Broadway and ended up winning four Tony Awards, including the Best Musical. The four young girls – Milly Shapiro, Bailey Ryon, Sophia Gennusa and Oona Laurence – played Matilda in the original Broadway production and won the Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre. Sweeping the 2012 Olivier Awards and setting a record, Matilda has since then been rising in popularity and is equally enjoyed by both the children and adults. London and Broadway productions of Matilda the Musical are now joined by a US Tour which started its run in May in Los Angeles. Matilda tickets are on high end and average price has been around $97.

Last year in October, Matilda broke box office record at the Shubert Theatre and its successful run continues at the historic venue. During the 7/19/15 week, the musical grossed $1,110,520 and it was an increase of $33,141 from the previous week. Theatergoers paid the top ticket price of $250 to attend the show and according to ExciteEvents, the rates will be increasing for the upcoming week. Average Matilda The Musical ticket price for a single show has gone up to $345 and even the cheapest show is priced at $217.

The musical made a stellar debut at the Orpheum Theatre – San Francisco and performances will take place from Jul 15, 2015 – Aug 15, 2015. Roald Dahl’s story centers on an intellectually gifted girl Matilda, who is considered the black sheep of her family. She navigates and fights her way through in a world of oppressive adults and rises as an inspiration for everyone. Matilda’s success has a lot to do with the outstanding performances and the touring cast now includes three extremely talented and vibrant performers – Gabby Gutierrez, Mia Sinclair Jenness and Mabel Tyler, all playing the lead role on alternate nights. These girls are booked through 2017 for the Matilda National Tour and are excited about the run. Their opening performance at the Orpheum Theatre earned them a standing ovation and even though theatergoers had to pay more than $300, they believe it was absolutely worth it. In fact, ExciteEvents has revealed that the average price of Matilda the Musical tickets has gone up for the upcoming shows and the most expensive show so far will be on August 9, carrying $869 price tag. July 26 performance is also high priced, ticket averaging at $797.

From Sep 9, 2015 – Sep 20, 2015, Matilda will be wowing the audience at the Denver’s Buell Theatre. Theatre buffs in Denver are in luck because as compared to other cities, Matilda the Musical Denver tickets are quite reasonable. Most tickets are priced at $172, except for the September 12 performance which falls on weekend. Those who plan on going to the show on that date will have to pay top price – $744.
