Jamey Johnson was born in Montgomery Alabama in 1975, while he was in third year of college he left studies and joined the Marino Corps and served there for eight years and once leaving it he started to take country music seriously and in music he was mainly influenced from artists like Alan Jackson and Alabama. Johnson played in small club and bars which were spread all across Montgomery and then he moved to Nashville, Tennessee (the hub of country music) to pursue a career in music. Johnson is a singer, guitarist and songwriter and he has also co-written songs for popular artists like Joe Nichols Jessie James, George Strait and James Otto.

Johnson played with different artists initially and then he self –released an album in 2002 called They Call me Country but this was not  very successful. His major breakthrough came when he signed with BNA Records, Johnson released The Dollar and was immediately noticed by country music fans and this album went to #20 on US Country Charts and #87 on US Billboard 200. One single “The Dollar” from this album was simply loved by fans and it charted at #101 US Billboard and #14 on US Country. After some time Johnson left BNA Records and went on to join another famous recording company Mercury Nashville Records.

Under this label he released another hit album That Lonesome Song in 2008, this work of Jamey Johnson was an even better effort by him and this was his first album that was certified Gold in US and charted at #28 and #6 on US Billboard and US Country Charts respectively. “In Color” was a single from this album that is Johnson’s most popular song till date as it is his only single to get Gold certification and charted at #9 on US Country Charts. Johnson didn’t just stop here and under the same label yet another chart topping album The Guitar Song, this became Johnson’s best work to date as it went Gold and was the first ever album of his that went to the #1 position on US Country Charta and #4 on Billboard 200. Jamey Johnson has also appeared on singles of other artists namely Colt Ford’s single “Cold Beer”, Sammy Kershaw “Cover of the Rolling Stone”, “Bad Angel” with Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert, “Yesterday Wine” with Blackberry Smoke and George Jones and “Have Thin Own Way Lord” with The Blind Boys of Alabama.
