Lady Gaga will headline the Super Bowl LI halftime show on February 5 at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The 30-year old New Yorker will get to live her childhood dream.

After months of speculations and longstanding rumors, Lady Gaga finally confirmed through Twitter that she’ll be headlining the Super Bowl LI halftime show. It won’t be Gaga’s first appearance at the prestigious NFL event as she opened last year’s game at the Levi’s Stadium by performing the national anthem. And she killed it!

Performed with passion and humility, Lady Gaga was flawless as she showcased elegance and well-timed vocals. Bringing bold, patriotic style to the stadium, Gaga rocked a custom red pantsuit, deliberately mismatched red and blue high-heel platforms, blue fingernails and red eyeshadow. She had always wanted to sing the national anthem at a major sporting event, so it was a dream come true for the “Poker Face” singer. Now, she gets to live another dream.

She cried. Sure they were tears of joy, but still – Lady Gaga cried hard when she found out she has been picked to headline the halftime show of the Super Bowl LI. Admitting that it was her dream since she was 4 years old, Gaga has a lot of time to plan her appearance for the halftime show, but she’s not giving away any hints.

For her the halftime show is this big stage where people from different backgrounds, age groups and cultures come together. It’s also something that’s been taking place for decades and has been executed brilliantly before by music legends. But Lady Gaga is up for the challenge. She knows how to elevate her performance and in the end make it all about music.

The announcement couldn’t have come at a better time as the six-time Grammy Award winner is ready to release her fifth album “Joanne.” Gaga recently treated the fans to a sneak peek and released the lead single “Perfect Illusion.” The song peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and raised expectations for the rest of the album.
