A native of New Jersey, Halsey’s real name is Ashley Nicolette Frangipane. Halsey is her stage name, which also happens to be the name of one of NYC’s subway stations. As a child, she played the violin, cello and viola and later took up acoustic guitar. Soon she was posting videos on YouTube and other social media sites. Meanwhile, she also started to perform live wherever she could. One of her songs “Ghost” which was posted on SoundCloud made her famous literally overnight. Several record labels started to call her and she eventually signed up with Astralwerks. They have released both of her studio albums Badlands and Hopeless Fountain Kingdom. The former charted at No.2 on the Billboard 200, while the latter topped the same chart.

Halsey has seen her fair share of hardships in life. At one time, she was homeless. Now that she is rich and famous, she is a leading voice for suicide and sexual assault prevention.In January 2018, she spoke at the second annual Women’s March held in New York City.
