Chicago White Sox Opening Day 2015 Tickets Expensive 126.2% Over Season’s Average

The Chicago White Sox last reached the post season in 2008. They were crowned AL Central Champions that year and things were looking up for the team. However, the White Sox were unable to capitalize on their good form and things took a turn for the worse. The team has failed to reach the playoffs since that season. In fact they have posted a 0.500 plus winning percentage only twice since 2009.

Ozzie Guillen’s tenure was cut short in 2012 after a run of disappointing results and his replacement, Robin Ventura, has done little better. General Manager Rick Hahn gave the 2014 season a “fail” grade and judging by how things stand, change is coming to the U.S. Cellular Field.

The White Sox have acquired several exciting talents for this season, including the mercurial David Robertson, Adam LaRoche and Jeff Samardzija. Coupled with the talents of team super stars Chris Sale and Jose Abreu, the team’s fortunes just might change this year. The team has a sense of adventure around them and that is leaving an impact on the secondary ticket market as well.

According to EventsExcite, the average season ticket price for Chicago White Sox home games is $70.20 this year. But the average price for their season opener against the Minnesota Twins on April 10th is $158.77. That’s an increase of 126.2% over the season’s average. So obviously anticipation is clearly running high at the U.S. Cellular Field. The Get In price for the game is $22.
