Born For Comedy

Adam Sandler is one of those people who seem to have been born to do what he does. Sandler took a liking to acting and comedy from a young age. To pursue his interest, he enrolled in a Drama and Fine Arts degree at New York University.

Throughout the 80’s, Sandler did small acting roles. He played Ed on ‘The Cosby Show’ and even had a part on the MTV Game how ‘Remote Control’. It was at this point that Sandler decided to do stand-up comedy to broaden his acting experience.

It was his venture into stand-up comedy that got Adam Sandler his big break. He started performing in Boston and then moved to the Improv Club in Los Angeles, California where comedian Dennis Miller noticed him. Miller was the one who recommended Adam Sandler to Lorne Michaels, the producer of Saturday Night Live.

Making It Big

Adam Sandler worked on Saturday Night Live for five years between 1990 and 1995. He made a name for himself with his hilarious skits as well as the songs he performed, “The Thanksgiving Song” and “The Chanukah Song”.

Since leaving SNL, Adam Sandler broke into Hollywood in a big way. Today, he is one of the most well-known comedic actors in the business. He has appeared in the popular comedy movies Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, the Wedding Singer, Big Daddy, Click, 50 First Dates, The Hot Chick, The Animal, Eight Crazy Nights, The Longest Yard, Little Nicky and Mr. Deeds.  He has also lent his voice to the animated movies, Dracula in Hotel Transylvania and Hotel Transylvania 2.

He has ventured into more dramatic territory with his roles in Punch-Drunk Love (2002), Spanglish (2004), Reign Over Me (2007), and Funny People (2009).

In addition to his acting work, Sandler has released several comedy albums over the course of his career. These include They’re All Gonna Laugh at You! and What the Hell Happened to Me?, that were certified double-platinum.

Other than being a well-known actor and comedian, Sandler is also a musician, screenwriter, and film producer. Sandler also has his own film production company which he founded in 1999 called Happy Madison Productions.

Return to Stand Up

In 2014, Adam Sandler teamed up with Netflix and announced a four-movie deal with the company. As part of it, Sandler has been doing a lot of promotion work for Netflix which includes his return to stand-up comedy.
