Will Sam Smith take Beyonce down the memory lane?

February 5, 2015

Sam Smith is the new favorite in the race for ruling the biggest night of the music industry: the much awaited Grammys. The British artist is nominated in six categories, including ‘Record of the Year,’ ‘Song of the Year,’ ‘Best Pop Solo Performance,’ ‘Best Pop Vocal Album,’ ‘Best New Artist’ and the coveted ‘Album of the Year.’

Smith’s hit new single ‘Stay with Me’ has struck the right chord with audiences and critics alike. And with his album ‘In the Lonely Hour,’ he is a strong contender in the ‘Album of the Year’ category, along with none other than the Queen B herself.

Beyonce has never won the ‘Album of the Year award’ and she is expected to face stiff competition from Smith whose “I’m Not the Only One” and “Stay With Me” were among some of the top singles of the year. Even though she has six nominations under her belt, she might have a reason to be worried. Sam Smith might take Beyonce down the memory lane. It hasn’t been long since the ‘Album of the Year’ award snub that Beyonce faced at the 2009 Grammys; thanks to the then newcomer Taylor Swift who bagged the award that everyone thought was reserved for the Queen B.

Fingers crossed for the R&B singer; history might or might not repeat itself!
