Wicked Embarks on 2nd National Tour – Ticket Price Hikes in Major Cities

If audience appeal is any indication of a play’s worth then Wicked is definitely a multimillion-dollar treasure. After wrapping up an immensely successful North American tour, Wicked has hit the road with its second national run. To meet the huge demand, Wicked will be travelling all over the country with two separate teams – “The Munchkinland Tour” and “The Emerald City Tour”. Featuring different casts, these touring teams will be performing in many cities including Seattle, Portland, Milwaukee, Louisville and New York.

The Munchkinland Tour has Alyssa Fox reprising the role of Elphaba and Carrie St. Louis playing Glinda. The Emerald City Tour cast features Emma Hunton as Elphaba and Chandra Lee Schwartz as Glinda. Both the touring casts are equally talented and have been doing complete justice to their roles. Wicked is still the most popular musical running at the Gershwin Theatre in NY and its 7/12/15 weekly gross has witnessed an increase of $35,856 from last week. There is also a rise in the Wicked ticket price and according to ExciteEvents, the upcoming week (July 22 – 25) will see people buying tickets at top price. Price has gone up to $261 and the average ticket price is around $253.

Munchkinland Tour cast has been dazzling audience at the Seattle’s Paramount Theatre since July 8 and will wrap up its run on August 2. Due to its award winning cast which includes Alyssa Fox, Carrie St. Louis, John Davidson (The Wizard) and Ashley Parker Angel (Fiyero), the theatre has one of the highest priced tickets. The average ticket price has reached $344, even some of the low priced shows are averaging at $225.

Wicked will premiere in Portland on August 5 and Keller Auditorium will stage performances till August 23. Delivering classic musical theatre sensibilities, Wicked is one of those few shows that justifies its ticket price. To be a part of this cultural phenomenon, theatergoers in Portland will have to pay up to $257. ExciteEvents revealed more information and even the cheapest ticket carries a price tag of $189.

Wicked national tour will head to Milwaukee in fall and Marcus Center for the Performing Arts will host performances from November 4 – 15. Scoring on all entertainment levels, Wicked has been drawing in people of different age groups and tastes. Theatergoers are willing to pay top price like $254 for the forthcoming shows.

Brilliantly written by Winnie Holzman, a beautiful stage presentation by Joe Mantello and wonderful compositions of Stephen Schwartz, all these things make Wicked an unforgettable experience. Wicked will be bringing its “must-see wonders” to Louisville from November 18 – December 6.
