Stars shine down at the Super Bowl 50!
There are only a few more days to go before Super Bowl 50! Fans can finally start the countdown to one of the most popular annual sporting events in the world.
After an exciting football season, two worthy teams, the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos flattened their opposition to set up this exciting matchup. This will be only the fifth time that both these sides face each other and it promises to be one memorable fixture, yet there are also those who feel that perhaps the Super Bowl has much more to offer than just the game of football itself.
The Super Bowl is now almost a nationally celebrated day, with families and friends getting together for this auspicious event. Some do it for the football, while others do it for the engaging commercials that air during the game; however these days most people seem to tune in for the highly anticipated Halftime Show.
Every Super Bowl has a designated thirty minute interval between two halves of the game. These usually featured marching bands or local talents back in the seventies and eighties. Ever since Michael Jackson enthralled audiences with his amazing dance moves and incredible voice at Super Bowl XXVII in 1993, the Halftime show has gotten a life of its own.
Last year’s performance by Katy Perry, that also featured Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliot, set a Super Bowl record for being the most watched show in history, with over a hundred and eighteen million people tuning in; almost four million more than the number of people that actually watched the Super Bowl itself!
Halftime is turning out to be a big deal! This year once again, the show will feature some of the biggest names that the music industry has to offer. There was much speculation going on and now the big news is out!
Headlining the event is the world famous British rock band Coldplay, who are coming fresh off of the release of their latest album, “A Head Full of Dreams”. They have additionally made six more albums, all of which have managed to record platinum level sales in the US and of which four have made it to number one on the Billboard charts. They have also sold over eighty million records around the globe and have been awarded seven Grammy Awards to date.
One of the great things to come out of this announcement was that Coldplay’s new album featured cameos from a few other artists and as such one of them will be making an appearance at the Big Game. That amazing superstar is none other than the Queen B herself, Beyonce. She is one of the highest selling artists of all time, and has managed to sell over a hundred and seventy million albums as both a solo artist and as a member of the popular girl-band ‘Destiny’s Child’. Her five albums to date have all made it to the top of the Billboard charts and have recorded multi platinum sales. Super Bowl 50 will also be her second time performing at this event, as she headlined Super Bowl XLVII in 2013.
With such an epic lineup, this year’s Halftime show is shaping up to break records and might even overshadow the game itself. As if things weren’t already great, it was recently announced that Coldplay will also be bringing some more friends from the music industry to help them out on stage, with the name of Bruno Mars on top of every rumors list.
Having three such illustrious artists on the stage at a time will be an experience of a lifetime for fans, and will also live long in memory to be one of the greatest spectacles that the Super Bowl ever presented before.
