nfc divisional playoffs predictions

We had a look at the AFC Divisional Playoffs and predicted which two sides will go on to headline the conference’s championship game. Now the time has come for us to take a look at the other conference, NFC, and see what it has in store for us and all football fans around the country. The NFC side of the bracket is arguably more unpredictable and close to call than the AFC one and that is how we all want it, don’t we?

So without further ado, let us see what the NFC Divisional Playoffs have in store for us and make our predictions to see which two teams will take a step forward in their quest to headline Super Bowl LI.

1. Seattle Seahawks vs Atlanta Falcons

The Seattle Seahawks have been regular playoffs contenders over the last few years and won the Super Bowl in 2013. The Seahawks went 10-5-1 during this regular season and that was good enough to land them a wild card spot. In the wild card round they faced off against the Detroit Lions and absolutely battered them 26-6.

The Atlanta Falcons on the other hand posted an 11-5 record during the regular season and that was good enough to land them a first round bye. Not only that, but they will also be playing their playoffs at home and that is always a huge plus. The Falcons are in the playoffs for the first time since the year 2012.

Prediction:

The Atlanta Falcons and the Seattle Seahawks met during the regular season in October in a pulsating game in Seattle. The home side won that encounter 26-24. It was a stunning exhibition of football by both sides and that is what made it such a fantastic spectacle. Having said that, the Falcons and the Seahawks met in the playoffs four years ago as well and that day it was the Falcons who came out on top 30-28.

A lot of people are predicting the Falcons to come out on top and end the Seahawks trip to the playoffs at the divisional round for the second season running. But this is a Seattle side that has been there and done it, with players who know how to handle the pressure. Either way we predict that this will be a very close game and one that will end with the Seahawks going to the NFC Championship Game and getting a step closer to headlining Super Bowl 51.

2. Dallas Cowboys vs Green Bay Packers

It has been some transformation for the Dallas Cowboys. They went 4-12 last season and so many people did not expect them to perform so well in this season. From 4-12 they have gone on to become serious Super Bowl contenders in a space of a year. The Cowboys were 13-3 in the regular season and that too without Tony Romo. Players like Ezekiel Elliot and Dak Prescott have starred for sure but it has been a total team effort. This is very close knit unit that has its eyes set on the biggest prize in the business.

The Packers posted a 10-6 record during the regular season to qualify for the wild card round. They came up against a New York Giants team that has beaten the Cowboys twice during the regular season. The Packers rose to the occasion and won the game 38-13. They will now come up against one of the favorites to win Super Bowl 21, the Dallas Cowboys. The Packers however are peaking at the right moment. They have won their last seven games, including the triumph over the Giants in the wild card round.

Prediction:

The Dallas Cowboys beat the Green Bay Packers at the Lambeau Field 30-16 during the regular season. Both teams have fantastic QBs in Dak Prescott and Aaron Rodgers. Cowboys are favorites but they have a defense that the Packers can get at. On the other hand, the Cowboys have more firepower and overall dynamism in the side. We expect this to be a very close game that can go either way. But we still think that the Cowboys have more to offer than the Packers as a team. That and the fact they will be playing at home should see them through.

So the NFC Championship Game according to us will feature the Seattle Seahawks taking on the Dallas Cowboys. It is all set up for two cracking clashes between four very good teams.
