Cirque Varekai on Tour – Brings Spectacular Athleticism & Artistry to Arenas

Cirque du Soleil’s exotic “Varekai” has launched a seven-show national run and will be stopping in numerous cities including Boston, Baltimore, Fairfax and Sunrise. Premiering in 2002, “Varekai” has been performed in more than 70 cities all over the world and is called the company’s most enduring production. Framed by a narrative, the show features stunning acrobatics, extravagant costumes and a live band and singers who give the act a visceral momentum.

Cirque du Soleil – Varekai recently ended a successful run in Oklahoma at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. The opening night witnessed an attendance of almost 2,200 and as the final curtain was drawn, the performers received a raucous standing ovation. “Varekai” is ready to bring its enchanted and whimsical characters to Baltimore and performances will take place at the Royal Farms Arena from July 8 to 12. In Boston “Varekai” will start its run on July 15 and the final performance will be on July 19. The city is lucky as eight shows will be held at the Agganis Arena and the opening night will be the most expensive event on the docket. Cirque du Soleil – Varekai centers on a solitary young man Icarus, who falls from the sky and lands in a forest, where he discovers the mysteries and wonders of the enchanting land called “Varekai”. The show will descend on Patriot Center on July 22 and will enjoy a five-day run, with two performances each taking place on 24, 25 & 26. In Fairfax the average ticket price for eight shows is ranging from $129 to $135.

On August 12, “Varekai” will come to Sunrise and raise its curtains at the BB&T Center. According to ExciteEvents, Sunrise has so far the most expensive tickets, average price hiking to $188. The seven-show run will end on August 20 and even the lowest priced event carries the price tag of $180.

Through “Varekai”, Cirque du Soleil pays tribute to the spirit and art of the circus tradition. The captivating story is told through 11 incredible acts featuring elaborately choreographed stunts.
