Major Predictions for WWE Survivor Series 2019

The 2019 Survivor Series is just a few weeks away and the excitement is increasing every day for one of WWE’s biggest PPVs of the year. This time, the biggest pro wrestling promotion in the world will be setting up shop at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont. The Survivor Series is returning to the Chicago area after more than three decades and residents are counting the days till the action gets underway at the home of the AHL’s Chicago Wolves.

To give wrestling fans an idea of what to expect, we have taken a shot at predicting what the fight card may look like. At the time of writing this piece (September 20, 2019), the first RAW and SmackDown broadcasts after Clash of Champions have taken place. So, all the forecasts provided here are based on the info available at that point.

• Universal Champion vs. WWE Champion

Prediction:Universal Champion The Fiend vs. WWE Champion Brock Lesnar 

Winner:Brock Lesnar

One of the high points of Clash of Champions was the appearance of The Fiend at the end of a hard-hitting Universal Championship encounter between Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman. At Hell in a Cell, Rollins will be defending his title against The Fiend who has been terrorizing the WWE roster since his emergence earlier in the year.

Thus, a title win for Bray Wyatt’s latest incarnation seems like the logical next step and we expect him to take the belt from Rollins. On the other side, Brock Lesnar seems to have turned his attention to WWE Champion Kofi Kingston after failing to recapture the Universal title.

The Beast Incarnate is expected to square off against Kingston for the WWE Championship at Hell in a Cell. Kingston’s days as champion might be numbered and you would probably put your house on Lesnar starting another reign with the belt. So, a champion vs. champion clash between Lesnar and The Fiend at Survivor Series is a real possibility.

Given how WWE booked SmackDown to lose all the matches last year, that is unlikely to be the case again. This is probably going to be SmackDown’s year and with the titles not on the line, we expect Lesnar to get the better of The Fiend in a close contest.

• Traditional 5-a-Side Men’s Elimination Match (RAW vs. SmackDown)

Team RAW: Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman, AJ Styles, Ricochet and Drew McIntyre

Team SmackDown: Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton, Ali, Roman Reigns and Andrade

Winner: Team RAW

The Wild Card rule makes it tough to pick a team and we may have to wait until after the draft for a clearer idea. However, most (if not all) of the names mentioned above will probably be involved.

Following RAW’s clean sweep last year, SmackDown will certainly be back with a vengeance. But a similar whitewash seems improbable for the blue brand and we expect Team RAW to win this one for the third year in a row.

• Traditional 5-a-Side Women’s Elimination Match (RAW vs. SmackDown)

Team RAW: Lacey Evans, Nikki Cross, Alexa Bliss, Sasha Banks and Naomi

Team SmackDown: Charlotte Flair, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Kairi Sane and Asuka

Winner: Team SmackDown

Again, a clearer picture of the two teams would emerge after the WWE draft but many of these names are likely to be involved anyway. Last year, Becky Lynch led Team SmackDown’s attack on RAW on their own turf which seemed to have handed the blue brand the initiative going into Survivor Series.

However, they ran into a freight train called Nia Jax who brought the win home for Team RAW. This time around, we expect Team SmackDown to prevail and bring some of the pride back to Shane McMahon’s show.

• RAW Women’s Champion vs. SmackDown Women’s Champion

Prediction: RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley

Winner: Becky Lynch

Following her disqualification loss against Sasha Banks at Clash of Champions, RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch will once again defend her crown against The Boss at Hell in a Cell. On the other hand, the SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley is yet to have a match booked for Hell in a Cell.

Whatever the outcome may be, we expect Bayley to still be the face of the SmackDown women’s division come Survivor Series. In that scenario, it would hardly make sense to have Banks going up against her ally Bayley as the RAW Women’s Champion. The two of them have been cleaning house in recent weeks with the likes of Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Natalya on the receiving end of some vicious assaults.

Therefore, we expect both current title holders in the women’s division to face off for the pride of their respective brands at Survivor Series. And as we mentioned earlier in the piece, SmackDown’s domination will not be as absolute as that showcased by RAW twelve months ago.

Seeing as Lynch is arguably the biggest superstar in WWE right now (male or female) and the undisputed face of the company, she is unlikely to come up short against a heel Bayley. So, The Man should be getting the job done against her.

• Intercontinental Champion vs. United States Champion

Prediction: Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura vs. United States Champion Cedric Alexander

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura

It is widely believed that Cedric Alexander’s recent push towards the United States Championship has been planned by Paul Heyman himself who is a big fan of the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion. Given how highly the RAW executive director rates Alexander, he should be getting a title reign sooner rather than later.

Over on SmackDown, Shinsuke Nakamura is likely to continue as the Intercontinental Champion by the time Survivor Series comes round. He has only recently won the belt and it wouldn’t seem appropriate for him to lose it so soon.

There might be a possible swap of the champions between the brands in the upcoming draft. However, we would put our money on the two staying where they are for now. The faceoff between Alexander and Nakamura would be an interesting clash of styles. It is likely to be a great match with plenty of high-flying action and slick maneuvers from both competitors.

As for the result, SmackDown will surely edge the contests this time around and win back the bragging rights. Keeping up with that trend, Nakamura should be getting the better of Alexander.

There are likely to be many new developments over the course of the next few weeks. The results from Hell in a Cell and the WWE draft will have the biggest say on what the Survivor Series fight card will ultimately look like.
